Fuel Tank Vent

Postby rac » Wed Jul 30, 2008 10:32 am

I have a 1997 Skorpion Traveller. The fuel tank vent hose is short and leaks fuel onto the crankcase when I have a full tank (not overfilling). There appears to be a valve on the right side that has hose fittings with nothing connected. I'm assuming this is an evaporative emmission system that has been disconnected. Does anyone know how this is supposed to be connected? Is there another alternative for the vent that will prevent it from leaking fuel?

You might try to bring the vent line up higher so the gas can't just spill out,it would have to go up first.
Just a thought and welcome to the forum.

Rac, there is a topic on Fuel Tank Vents further down on this 660 page. It may be good reading regarding your issue.

rac,
sign216, yes...
You might also go another 20+ posts on that same thread and read what Bill had to say about the (evap cannister removal) as it applies to venting.

Thanks to all who replied. I did read the posts mentioned. I was hoping someone would know how to reconnect everything the way it should be. For now I plan on just running a line up behind the instrument cluster as mentioned by iceman.

There is a download/parts list on this site for the Baghira that has a diagram of the vent cannister system but it doesn't show routing. Even I'd have to locate someone with the system intact and document it myself.
I understand that the system doesn't affect he performance of the mc being there or not except if it's there and not working as I stated in the previous thread where the bike was tipped over and the cannister with fuel in it didn't allow for venting.
