Baghira ENDURO front rotor replacement?

Postby AtomicSpew » Sun Jan 11, 2009 11:35 pm

So I read the entire parts swap thread and didn't come up with an answer to my question, though I got close I think...I see that the Baggy's front rotor is a swap out with an R6 ('99, I think the post said), but then there was a question of it would work on the enduro model. Somebody with the off-road Baggy bought an R6 rotor and reported back that it appeared too big--and he was wondering if he was sent the wrong rotor, or if in fact the R6 rotor is only swappable with the SM Baggy, and he never got a response. Does anybody know? I'm finally getting around to tearing down the Enduro rolling chasis I bought in order to get my street moto Baggy swapped over to an Enduro model for awhile, and the front rotor is fairly chewed up.

ALSO, I need to buy the proper size socket to remove the rear wheel off the enduro--anybody know what size the axle bolt (nut) is back there?

Thanks in advance...
Flip

Flip,
24mm measures .945 and 15/16ths measures .9375
I use the 15/16th wrench on mine. But you asked about a socket and I can't get my calipers to measure correctly as it wobbles around way too much.

For the heck of it I compared a Snap-on 15/16th to a Craftsman 24mm and they both measure .950

when using the wrenches always use a box end or socket and the number of faces in it should be the same
as the nut or bolt to keep from rounding off the nut

Thanks guys! I've been spraying the bugger with liquid wrench for a couple days, as I don't think this thing has been removed since it was originally put together in '98, so wish me luck!

Also, anybody know the answer to the front rotor question? MSW--You lurking at all on this thread!? Speak up, man!

Hey there Flip. Sorry about that. Took a short break there.

They are different. The Enduro uses a 282mm disc on the front, and the SM uses a 298mm disc. The bolt pattern is probably different, as well, but I haven't compared the two side-by-side, so I can't be sure about that. Probably different enough that one wouldn't work on the other.

Problem is, I've never heard of any other model whose front rotor fits the Enduro (like the R1 disc fits the SM).

Are you without a disc completely, or might you just need to resurface the one you've got?

i have the enduro front disc on mine and had sm wheels fitted by the dealer,so bolt holes must be the same, just dia is larger for the normal sm wheel.

Hey all-
Thanks for the good info. I think the rotor is usable--I just figured if it was easy and fairly inexpensive that I'd go with a new one, new sprockets, chain, etc. I can get it cleaned up enough--it's probably not even so much that it needs to be honed, as much as it needs the spotty rust removed and the edge of the rotor itself is a little rough and has some pretty caked-on crud. Perhaps a soak in cleaner and some steel wool will do the trick. I'm going to dig back into it this weekend and will report back...

I'm ordering some Maxxis 6006's for her, as I plan on doing a bit of dirt-only riding coming up soon (even though a Redshift Laguna Seca track day has got my attention...). Anybody have experience with these? I hear they're a thin side-wall, so you shouldn't go with too low of psi, but aside from that, they're a pretty good DOT approved knobby...

rotor bolt spacing is the same for both types of wheel and ebc do a disc to fit the enduro model, which is a smaller dia than the supermoto disc.
think also the supermoto wheeled models have a caliper relocation bracket to allow for the larger disc, same fork leg bottoms.

apparently enduro wheel and disc fits on sm but youll be giving up 6mm or so of contact between disc/pad.I think the solution is to swap caliper mount with with rotor/wheel its matched to. On the flip side, Ive got the enduro with 17in. sm wheel and caliper mount holes miss by 6mm. It would seem that a sm caliper mount would solve my prob. or am i missing something? sometimes im not so smart!!!!!! I think another way to say it would be the caliper mount [plate or braket] matches the rotor not the bike. feel free to correct . it seams the caliper and mount are best left together./disc. sorry to get so wordie it seamd so simple when I started ps and dont forget the speedo drive.

If you have a look on Grahams parts pages an adapter plate is shown on the front caliper page, so it may be worth having a chat with them.

agree with the above, think the bracket moves the caliper back slightly to allow for the bigger disc.
i know when i bought my off road wheels back  it came with the larger disc fitted to it, which i removed and flogged on ebay as my bike has the smaller disc as standard
