Baggie due back in action. Raptor/ Pegaso Carb info

Hi All,
Its been a little while since I have posted here & indeed since I've been out on my baggie. I bought a cheap Tdm a few years ago with good intentions of keeping both the Mz & it on the road at once- unfortunately lack of money put a stop to that!

Anyway the Tdm is now sold & its back to the baggie! I gotta say I'm really lookin forward to it. Just a good service to do and a bit more adapting of the seat & we're off (hopefully without sore arse this time!)

I have been keeping an eye on the forum especially on the carb modification/ replacement side of things. Much as I'd like one of the dual kehin or mikuni replacements that horrid thing called money creeps in again which leads me back to the raptor carbs!

I'm wondering if anyone has any more info on fitting the raptor carbs. I have posted on this before & on recommendation tried to search the German forum but didn't get very far due to lack of understanding German (I couldn't work out how to join but did find some mention of it with the help of some online translation!).

I know they fit & work & it sounds like a worthwhile upgrade but it would be great to hear from anyone that has actually done it to know what extra parts are needed & what throttle cable they used & any other problems encountered or advice. I would really like to keep the airbox & assume with a little cutting I could adapt it to accept a new rubber from the bigger side?

I have currently a M4 end pipe & Bernds header & carb kit installed. I have a high compression piston from a raptor lurking in the shed that may go in one day but if it does I will probably get the head flowed while I'm at it. I don't really want to go splitting the engine just yet although a friend has a spare that I'm trying to get my hands on for this purpose!

Also does anyone know if the aprillia pegaso carbs are the same as the raptor?

I saw an article from a couple years ago about mounting these carbs to a Mastiff,same as Bagie in most respects.
He made the right side manifold from 2" alum pipe welded to a Raptor right side manifold(cut down of course)
and used 2" radiator hose to mount the carbs. Throttle linkage is easier than stock,1 cable.I'll see if I can
find the pictures I used to have.....

I have picked up a cheap pair of Mikuni BST 33's from an aprillia pegaso. I am hoping they are the same as the ones on the raptor although it looks like the tops might be a bit taller. Will keep you posted on that when they arrive!

Main concern now is that service & getting back on the road!

So the Raptor has dual carbs?

I'm trying to get some clarity on how to replace the Teikei carbs with Mikuni flat slide carbs - or a Keihin. One carb. I saw one pic of Bill's with a Raptor manifold and I'd thought it was a single carb...and I was wondering why the problem of the kits with manifolds no longer being available, if the Raptor mainfold could be used.

Bill...? You're the man.
What can be done for a 2-into-1 manifold? TIG welding and so on I can get done, if the maniflold mountings don't match.

The Raptor motor (660) has two carbs,Bst33's, these are fitable to a Baggie or Mastiff,but do to linkage location,not easy on a Skorp.
The single manifold for the 660 Grizzly is what Bill has fitted to his aircooled Skorpion. This will not fit the XTZ head without a manifold
adapter due to the shape ofthe ports(Grizzly is round ports,XTZ is oblong on the right side..I thought about it for my SKorpion,but.......

Thanks, Chip. I must've confused Grizzly and Raptor there.

So, then unless we can get a 2-into-1 manifold fabricated, the only option is the manifold + 2 BST carbs...? Better carbs, I suppose, and easy to get jets. I must read some of the threads again to think about whether or not it's worth the expense.

.....Looking at pics I saved years ago...Demolition Man (2 x FCR 35 on Trinity 686 engine build, linkage on the right side), and another guy (some other Mikunis, linkage on the left side),...I'd thought the conversions were single carb but now I see they're dual. Expensive.
