Vapor Settings?

Postby amahoser » Fri Sep 19, 2008 9:56 am

I installed a Vapor on my Baghira. Got everything working 'cept for the fricken Tach. E-mailed customer support and they sent out a new RPM sense wire that had a resistor in line..... Tried it wired to the coil, and on the spark plug line. Both still get intermittent readings. Where is yours wired and what settings in the Vapor setup did you use to get it working properly??

i wired the resitive wire to coil, think it was neg side, will have a look later.just checked settings of vapor as well 1ppr for step 1 then step 2 is 0000 step 3 should not appear as 0000 was entered at step 2.
1870 if using 17" wheels gives a very accurate speed compared with a gps. if using the dash kit you need an extra warning light for temp though vapor can be set for norm and max temp readings, hope this helps, now off out to enjoy the sunshine :D

Try taking the tacho wire and connecting it to the spare terminal on teh CDI unit (funnily enough marked Tack I seem to remember) Works well on my Acewell unit.

I'm trying to get the RPM to work (no resistor wire ordered at the mo) did this system of wiring straight to the CDI work ?

(I bet I will have even more questions soon :-D )
Cheers

hi ed,i tried the wrap wire round the coil lead first but erratic readings at any revs, get the raptor resistive wire and wire direct to coil, see above post, and all worked fine.

Hi,

I attached the red wire to the neg side of the coil and black wire earthed. . and doesn't seem to be too bad (only garage tests at the mo')

What is actually in the resistor wire ?, I think it costs over £10 ?. . .(plus P&P)

I've got an extra power wire (same fitting on the end) that came in the kit and I guess I could make a resistor wire with a quick trip to maplins. . dya reckon its easy to do ?

What settings did you enter for the RPM change light and red line value ?
also did you set the temp values as well ?

Getting there. . . .slowly :-)

Cheers Matey, info most gratefully received. . . :-D

I tried the bike the other day without a resistor wire and the rpm warning lights set wrong. . . The unit lit up like a christmas tree. . :smt005

(I Have read on a raptor forum that the resistor needed is 6K ohms)

time to disappear into the garage once more. :smt006

Hey all,

I'm looking at getting the Vapor for my Baghira. Currently trying to figure out what parts I need. I will be getting an indicator dash with it so no need for the other mounting hardware, right? Does anyone know what size hose sensor to get for temp?

Thanks and Happy Trails!

think it is the 3/4 sensor,i know i needed nothing other than the box it came in apart from the resistive wire for tacho.
fitted temp sensor on pipe next to cylinder near the fan i think,if the tank comes off soon will confirm position, remember chopping about an 1" of pipe out to fit it.

Thanks Rodge!

Did you buy the Vapor generic kit or did you buy one for a specific model? Obviously they don't have one set up for the Baghira so I'm thinking I should just get the generic kit for conventional forks, water cooled. Size of temp sensor would be the only thing to confirm but it sounds like I should go for the 19mm?

Thanks again for the support,
Pete
