S. Florida - good mechanic needed!!!!

Postby tonydragon » Mon Feb 08, 2010 9:16 am

Hello all!

First of all, sorry if this has been discussed somewhere else, but I couldn't find anything similar throughout the forums.

I purchased my Baghira a little over a year ago, and immediately fell in love with it! Now, since I'm a freakin' n00b, I need to rebuild the engine...Unfortunately, I've been dealing with someone that pretty much wasted my time and money. I desperately need someone in the south-florida/Miami area that knows the bike well and knows where to get parts! Seriously guys, I don't have much "technical expertise" (I'm a computer geek, not a mechanic!)...probably the most advanced thing I did was to replace the brake pads on my Zuma!
Any advise is greatly appreciated...

Hello Everyone!
Does anyone know if "GRAHAMS Motorcycles" still has an eBay store? Tried google as well, but nothing...

EDIT - Never mind, found it :)
Kinda empty, though. Anybody bought anything from there recently?
I tried contacting them via email, but nothing yet...

They do take a while, especially if you put Hi in the subject box, he treats it as SPAM.
Try again, they do answer you eventually, and they are really helpful once they reply.

Why mess around with Grahams if you're in S. FL? There are a quite a few vendors in Miami who prolly have what you need mate w/o the snobbery. I gave up on Grahams long ago.

LMAO!
Hey comanche, do you have anybody in particular in mind? Because so far I only found the one shop where the bike is at now, and they've had the bike for months...The other place MIGHT look at it...
So please, any suggestions?

Hello all!
I figured I'd post what is going on since last time I was here (about 1 week ago).
I got my Baghira back last friday.
All seemed ok as far as a little accident on saturday afternoon. The clutch cable broke...
Now I ask myself: should I have my family from Southern Italy perform some over-the-air voodoo/anti-bad luck rituals?!?
lol
I know it's nothing, but now where to find the replacement?!?
We'll see :)
Keep you all posted!
Ciao

Hi,
Things are a bit slow at Grahams M/C because Ian (the parts guy) is away. He is back around the 15 March. They are probably snowed under with orders and there seems to be a delay at the German end too.
I found all this out today when I placed an order for Skorpion parts. I suggest you keep trying.

Comanche, you are a godsend!
However, I do have a question: back home there is such a thing as a "universal clutch cable" that has a 'barrel' end on one side, and nothing on the other. Of course these cables are not to be used as substitutes for the originals, but they are pretty handy to have around. Does anybody know what I'm referring to? I know it's not a fruit of my imagination :P because a friend of mine from back home mentioned it to me when I told him about my problem.
Once again, thanks everyone for the help and suggestions and...keep 'em coming!
Ciao for now!

Hello!
Cable installed!
I had to cut the sleeve, and put the bottom regulator (don't know the tech term for it, sorry :-D ) from the old cable to the new one. Took the bike for a stroll, all is well! Clutch engages/disengages nicely :D
That's it for now.
(I need to post pic's....)
