I have literally bombarded Bill with many questions via email regarding the Tour 660. He is a walking (riding?) library of knowledge, and has taken a lot of time to address my concerns.
He is obviously one of the guru's of the club.
I find it interesting that US parts suppliers tell me one thing, the Yam dealers another, and then there is this site which cuts through the crap.
Graham's in the UK has been very forthright, also.
I have a few more things to check out, and then I can decide to buy or pass.
My take on the Tour 660 is that the engine and drive train are bulletproof. It is everything else that will drive one nuts...just like most other bikes. Tire selection on this bike seem to be a bit more critical than on other bikes. I am still trying to understand the logic of the unusual carb system in that there is one carb is for fuel and the other for air. I am wondering about suspension requirements, too, as I am a heavy guy-255 pounds.
And, thanks to ALL of you who have helped me thus far!
