I've not heard of any issues, but I know of a dealer that put a battery charger on a long dormant showroom new 1000S without disconnecting the battery leads and ended up toasting the dash assembly somehow.

I'm only repeating industry standard advice: which is do not disconect th ECU when using electronic welding equipment. You are more likely to indroduce faults by disconnecting it. The ECU is very well protected. Its the disconnecting of it that causes tha problems.

well possibly- but they are very well protected, you are supossed to leave them connected if you have to do welding. The circuits are that well protected. Disconnecting them causes more problems.

With digital stuff you can bet your bottom dollar it ain't going to work on another model, its so easy to program it not to.

Have just fitted a Valeo Peugeot coil to my 1000ST. My bike was starting to miss on one cylinder. Pulling the coils out I found the coil on the missing cylinder (left side) was rusted. The spark plug was also very sooty. I followed the instructions for Benelli coils and it has worked a treat, see link below:

The coil on the left is a Peugeot coil, the one in the middle my modified Peugeot coil, and the one on the right the orginal MZ coil

I meant to include a photo showing the corrosion on the left hand side coil. I think the left side may be prone to rusting faster as it is the low side when the bike is on the side stand. The right side also has some corrosion, but it was not nearly as bad as the left side.

If you search ebay for a GENUINE PEUGEOT 406, 407, 607 AND 807 V6 IGNITION COIL listing no 110426546899 these will fit once you cut off the collar and file it smooth.

This works as that is what I did after my coil failed, make sure you get the old type coil as I do not know if the new type fit as they are a different length.
