Gel battery for MZ Baghira Black Panther replacement?

Hello.
My old battery is broken and I need to buy new gel battery.
I do not know battery model or symbol for MZ Baghira Black Panther 2003. My old battery does not have any indications.
Can somebody tell me what are the technical parameters of the battery?

Why not measure the dimensions and make a note of the type and placement of the connectors and just get the battery with the highest Ah rating that fits?

From what I read you need a minimum of 9ah and not the 7ah some came with. 9ah Yuasa is YB9L-B. Varta is 509 015. It's length is 137mm, width 76mm and height 141mm. Ideally get a 14ah though as this will spin it over quicker and for longer.

You know, I've always had a 7Ah battery on my Baggy, and I've never had an electrics issue (until it started blowing fuses on my last trip, which I think is a rectifier problem, but I digress). I know others have had issues, though, with difficult cranking. The YB9L-B should fit, though, so that's a good recommendation.

Battery in general, not ust for a Baggy:

a lengthy story around my Skorpion, making a new oil tank and moving it forward gave me loads of room under the seat, room I decided to use for all the electrical stuff, where it should stay nice and dry and clean. Instead of the Hawker SBS8 I decided I wanted to use a LiFePo4.

After an overly long wait,I finally go the toy and for the moment put it where the SBS8 had been:




compared to the SBS8, which is not very big itself, the thing is tiny:



with commensurate weights:
SBS8: 2700gr
Lipo: 652gr.

2kg!! less!!, but it starts my tuned engine which has no deco without the least trouble!
(for those interested, I can deliver this battery).

In the case of the SZR, one could (I will eventually!) set the little thing where the OEM ignition box sits, especially if one is using an Ignitech Sparker. The OEM battery box could be done away with entirely.
It goes without saying that it will start an engine with deco without the slightest bat of an eye.

Are there any modifications to the charging circuit needed for this lithium polymer battery? Can a standard Optimate battery charger be used with it? Thanks.

Optimate is fine, and of course the bike runs lights! You can see the tail lights, license plate and rear blinkers and the circuitbreaker box.
Lights run from the generator or at least they should and not from the battery.

but like most everything else, if you have to ask what it costs, don't bother.
The battery costs about 150$, but then the Hawker SBS8 cost over 100$, too.

These are A123 Systems batteries, packaged and sold under another name.
Also used in DeWalt 36 volt power tools.
We've been buying Dewalt packs and breaking them up for use in RC electrics. Usually get 10 cells off Ebay for around $100 US.
The pack Bill J. is using is a 4s2p at a nominal 13.2 volts.
Fairly tolerant of vibration and heat plus they don't "vent with flames" when fast charged, like the lithium polymers will

i usually do not go cheap on the battery
i some times run in very cold weather
some times so cold getting stranded is not an option of choice
even if i am in the car
a good battery in my car is a must
cell phone service is spotty here once out of town
and the amateur radio transceiver requires 13v at 22amps
but the house is just a call away as wife is also licensed
and the range is 250 miles +

you are right; Modellbau-Fuchs is a RC model specialist. They put the block I have (8 cells) as well as larger ones toether with large cross-section connectors suitable for motorcycle starters.
Thanks for supplying a suitable link for the States; obviously a German model airplane shop is not much use over there.
Such batteries are in the meantime almost universal in motorcycle racing where the starter must be retained.
Smaller ones are used for constant-loss battery ignitions.
