ETZ 251 - problem with left hand engine cover

Postby rossma49 » Mon Aug 02, 2010 3:23 pm

I need to remove the left hand engine cover from my ETZ 251 Saxon.
I've followed the Haynes Manual and the factory video but the cover wont come away.
It moves forward a couple of mm and then seems to come up against an obstacle and wont come away.
Gear lever, oil pipes, oil cable, crankshaft nut, two round covers and so on have all been removed. Gasket seal is broken but the cover wont come off.
It seems like the cover is coming up against something like the clutch release worm.
Help please!
Thanks, Richard

the worm may have wore the case into an odd shape that's hanging it up
but not sure as never worked on an mz 2 smoker
someone should answer soon

Well, I thought someone would help with this.

Anyway, after trying heat and so on, an engineer friend suggested I use a 'duck foot' puller.

He loaned me one and the cover came off with the first gentle turn of the spanner on the puller centre nut.

Drama over!
And I've bought a puller for my tool kit!
