rear shock off a VFR is on. rear wheel is next, TZR's are rare as hell but i think the FZR 250 appears to have the same one.

hi all
A few questions which have probably been asked before
As I was quoted $1600 for a wilbers shock for my skorpion sport I am looking for something a little (a lot) cheaper
What model vfr is th shock from? Is it easy to fit ?
Are there any shocks out there besides fzr600 (getting a bit old now) that fit plug and play?
TZR wheels are as rare as hens teeth around here too (they have all been sucked up by bucket racers) if fzr250 wheels fit they would certainly be a good option.

thanks in advance

The shock i put on mine is off A honda vfr400 nc30. 1991 but i believe the nc 30's all have the same one (?), its a showa anyhow.

its sliiightly longer, you will need a bigger spacer to go through the top of the shock but its a standard size (the first one i pulled out of my box of junky spare bolts and that was the right size). easy, just slide that in.

To mount the bottom its the correct width, but you will need to make the holes a bit bigger (to use the bolts that came with the mz, i decided it was just handier this way), takes no time with a file, and put a slight curve on the edge of the shock closest to the engine too to make it line up.
so, no, not plug and play but it took me about 20 mins to get it right for going on. i actually only considered putting it on because it was there lol.
miles better though

[quote="Bill Jurgenson"]TDM headers do work and are a common starting point for DIY systems. Best to make a 2-2 not only because it easier. the larger volume of two cans goes a long way reducing backpressure while still damping noise, much better than a 2-1 could possibly be.

cool, looks better aswell :D

Raptor carbs? Why those? What do you hope to improve by putting 2 sluggish CV carbs on?

Ahhhh sorry i read in another thread fit a set of TM34 B70 >> OFFERED << for the Raptor. missed the word 'offered' so i though they came with them as standard  .

If the stock Skorpion headers are like the Baghira headers, it is not only that the pipe diameter is small, they have big weld beads obstructing the flow, from the way that the welded the flanges to the pipes. I spent hours on mine with grinding points - not pleasant.

I got the NGK CR3 spark plug cable:

:)

Bill,... It doesn't look like an ordinary copper cable, all I can see is white sheath. Does the coil have the threaded spike that the cable screws on to? The original cable is not going to come off without some force, all that's happened is the adhesive seal has broken. So I thought it would be a good idea to ask before I do anything more.

the coil has a threaded spike like a wood screw in the center of the connector onto which the lead is screwed. Thus you must unscrew the old lead, too. You cannot( should not) simply yank it out.

Yes, thanks, done this afternoon. Down to garage now to get contact cleaner stuff and reassemble the rubber nut things on the coil.

The OEM spark plug cap says Made in Japan and some part number, but not NGK or any manufacturer name - maybe it's made by Denso. Not bad, but red silicone...red silicone rocks. :-D
