Baghira small parts and fasteners

Postby dirt_diggler » Fri Sep 03, 2010 10:48 pm

I was riding home in the dark a week ago when I heard something fall in the front of the bike and felt something hit my knee. Now I'm missing one of the funny cam bolts that holds the front of the saddle. Where do I get these? Today I checked the local hardware store that is famous for its fasteners, the Yamaha dealer, and an auto parts store. Anyone? Anyone?

I had the same problem but purchased the fastener(s) through a dealer before MZ was no longer represented in the states.
What I found was the fasteners come in a package of three, one for each side and the third that fastens the underside of the seat through underside of the rear fender.
I'd try calling SF Moto if your on the west coast or Galen Miller at bikeworx if your located on the east coast as a first try. You never know they might have a package collecting dust but be aware the fasteners aren't cheap.
I also remember hearing someone on this forum went to IKEA and found the company has bins of the same type of fastener. Also stated, it was easier to provide extras as shortages occur. I've not taken the time to check this out so any results posted would benefit others on this site.
Beyond these thoughts is the other side of the pond.
Hope this helps some,
Robert

I'll be in SF tomorrow on business (huge coincidence) and I'm picking up the LAST one of those fasteners from SF Moto. Thanks for the tip.

dirt_diggler,
Wow that worked out really well for you! Do you know if they will continue to be able to get us stuff like that in the future? I ordered a brake lever from them a long time ago and had a good experience dealing with them.
Good luck, Ed

D_D,

Very cool the dust turned up a result!
As David said, "Hang in there."
Folks on this forum have helped me more than they could ever know!
Working on my own gremlins (elec) and learning the basics myself at this point.

Best wishes,
Robert

Hey Dirk, er, I mean "Dirt" (f-ing brilliant name, by the way), are you near SF? There are a few of us with Baggy's in the Bay area, OMC and myself both living in Scotts Valley. My ride is currently sporting the dual-sport set-up, but I'm tempted to throw the SM wheel set back on for more streetable hooliganism. Let us know if you're near and would like to go for an MZ group ride.

OMC--WHAT'S UP, OLD MAN?? Is the Baggy not in riding shape? My turn signals have a gremlin, so I'm all about hand signals these days! Hope you're well...

Flip,

Not running at the moment, no spark.
So, the OMC is learning about electrics and trying to figure it out.

Hope all is well with you and your's,
Robert

Small world--I grew up in Tucson. Obviously, River Road will be one of your first visits--on your way out to Mt. Lemon Highway! Drive safe and enjoy those fantastic roads!
