Slippy gear lever

Postby dave » Sat Oct 30, 2010 12:28 pm

The gear lever on my Baghira is a bit loose and sloppy, so much so that sometimes it misses a gear when changing.

Is this a common propblem just caused by wear?

Going to get the lever off and see if it is worn or if its the shaft.

hope a little shim will tighten it up, or a little bit off gap where it oinches up so I can tighten it a bit more.

my traveller needed some lube and it started working better
also found on mine that to much free play or to tight on the cable adjustments made it shift bad

Had the bolt out that holds the lever on, and the shim that the bolt goes through inside the gear lever and it seems like there is some wear between hole in the the gear lever itself and the shim/tube. Think this is just through wear.

I filed a bit off the shim/tube end so when I tighten the bolt and nut up, it clamps the frame bracket onto the lever a bit tighter which has made it better.
