Handlebar adjustment Skorpion Traveller

Hi, question on adjusting handlebars on Skorpion Traveller. Loosening the 8mm allen bolt allows the clip-on to easily rotate clockwise or counter clockwise (looking directly down the fork tube). I want to adjust them up and down. It looks like they should easily pivot in that direction at the same allen bolt but they do not. Are they indexed? I don't want to starting banging away at them (unless that is the thing to do!). Appreciate your feedback.

Nope, not indexed, just a very tight wedge fit.

Bob did a good job on what to do.
I was able to twist the pieces and loosen them up after tapping a bit.
It took me quite a bit of effort to get one of them loosened.

Hey Bill thanks again for the link! I took a small ball peen hammer and polished the face up a bit. Held the bracket in a towel and slowly started tapping the female part of the collar. I put some duct tape on any surface that might get a wayward glance as I ratcheted up the tapping force. Probably took 50 hits and then like magic they just separated! These brackets are a pretty amazing piece of engineering. The bracket suffered little noticeable cosmetic damage (nothing I can't clean up). Adjusted the bars and my riding position is soooo much more comfortable (PO had the bars dropped to the point where they would actually touch the fuel tank on full turn). My neck and back and wrists thank you.

Adjusted the bars and my riding position is soooo much more comfortable (PO had the bars dropped to the point where they would actually touch the fuel tank on full turn). I had pretty much the same experience. Got the bars "just right"...now I gotta work on the saddle a bit...the second tank gets a bit squirmy on long road trips.
