Fork Bushings for Traveller

Postby Fluffy_Dog_1018 » Wed Apr 06, 2011 12:17 pm

Riders, I am installing new fork seals on my 2001 Traveller and the bushings look like they could stand to be replaced. Getting the upper and lower legs separated was an adventure I don't want to repeat soon. I have not been able to find a source for the bushings. Talked to Roland at Spare Parts and he would have to order from the Mother Country... I'd like them a bit sooner if possible. These have to be a pretty generic item right? Anyone know of a source? Sizes are as follows...

Lower 41x1x20
Upper 45x2x20

Thanks for any replies.

Racetech sells them. Usually only the lower bushing need replacement.

Thanks! Looks like they have the lowers which is what I really need. Have a message into them and will update the board with what I find.

Some final notes and part numbers on this job (hopefully this will help anyone else who has to do this).

Heat gun worked wonders when trying to separate upper stanchion from lower fork assembly. Evenly apply heat around the area of the seal and with several determined pulls they will come apart. Spread a big tarp in the area you are doing this... maybe just me but I managed to get a lot of nasty old fork oil on the shop floor no matter how hard I tried to drain the forks.

Fork Seals - Parts Unlimited FS-032, Pro Fork Seals 41x53x10.5 ~ $15

Fork Outer Bushing Kit (Pair) - Race Tech FMBO 41202 P ~ $25

Fork Inner Bushing Kit (Pair) - Race Tech FMBI 41201 P ~ $25

Any questions just ask!
