Baggi fan not coming on.

Postby paul599 » Sat Sep 03, 2011 1:01 pm

Hello,
I haven't had my baggi long and thought it got hot quickly and stayed hot. Also the fan never comes on, in traffic, on the open road, in warm weather, never seems to come on. I checked the fan, it works and the temp light comes on when I tested it. I put the fan switch that is on the left hand side of the bike on a T piece in the coolant hose is boiling water and still nothing.
I presume I need a new switch/thermostat. Can anyone shed any light on this or had a similar experience?

Thanks

My fan very rarely comes on at all, may fire up if hot a day and stuck in heavy traffic, think the temp gauge on speedo was around 107o.c(trailtech speedo) but as soon as you get moving temp drops quite quickly and fan cuts out, cheers rodge

My Traveller had the same issue. Fans stopped working and the previous owner had bypassed with a toggle switch to manually run the fans in traffic.
I checked the radiator switch in boiling water...no go.
Got a new one, repeated testing...fans on immediately...yep, that's what it was.
Now the fans kick on at appropriate times (slogging traffic, fast run and park it...)

Here's some part numbers, though Graham's lists different part numbers for the Baggi, so these might be useless to you?
Pull the old one and measure the fitting, maybe the same size.
Temp sensors for Skorpions on this forum
From the Yahoo MZOG:
NAPA FS198 Thermal fan switch 2001 Skorpion, probably other 660's
BWD TFS544 Advance Auto Parts Cooling fan switch MZ Skorpion 660 (bought online, not carried in stores) (this is the one I bought for my Skorpion).
Hope you get what you need.
