hi
i have used heated grips on my bikes for years and wouldn't own a bike without them. Currently an XTZ660 and DL650.In Australia you can buy Asian made ones for about $60. Simple high and low switch wired to my horn circuit as it turns of with the ignition so no one can turn them on without the motor running.Should only take about a 1-2 hrs to fit. I have heard the Oxford ones have had some problems and cost twice as much.I like being able to wear summer gloves in winter. if you fit them you will find you will use them more than you expect.
Good luck
John

Yes I plan to do this as well. Seems like a smart upgrade.

Never have had them fitted to my Baggi, but a mate has fitted Oxford Sport heated grips to a number of bikes and everyone has been happy with them. He has fitted them to a BMW S1000RR, GSX-R1000 K10 and a Fireblade RR-10.

Have grips fitted to my VStrom 1000 and like them. However, not as good as my Klan heated gloves, but they are a faff to put on just to do a 5 mile trip.

It's my understanding that the powered grips don't require putting on/off or anything, just flipping a switch when you want them on (ignition switched of course.)

I recently got a winter sale catalog in the mail from "Rider Wearhouse" in Duluth, MN (makers of the fabled Aerostich riding suits) and noted that they have at least 4 different options for heated grips, depending on how much work you are willing to do yourself. Give them a look at http://www.aerostich.com and see if any fit your situation.

I have a set of the "Oxford" digital grips on my Mastiff and my goldwing.

4 Heat settings and an on and off switch on a small bar mounted control box. They work a treat and as yet only needed 75% setting as they get toast hot. I wired mine through a relay which is switched from the circuit live when the ignition is on. This way they are then wired direct to the battery via the relay. They can be left on and when ign is swithced off the relay then opens and thus no power to grips. This way i am not affecting the bike wiring as the relay power drain is miniscule. I also placed seperate fuses in the feed from the battery.

Regards

Adrian

I've got the older type genuine Honda grips on my Skorpion. (The ones with the rotary knob to adjust temperature). These have the advantage of switching off if the voltage drops too low to charge the battery, so they can't run the battery down.
Once you've used heated grips, there's no going back!

I've got R&G ones for £40, can't fault them. 5 heat settings, which are useful for spring and autumn too, grips are not too bulky, soft enough for grip, easy to wire in, and you can get individual spares if you need them. (I broke the throttle side trying to move them from one bike to another, replaced for £10)

Only issue was the left hand fit was a bit loose on the bars, so I added a wind of tape onto the bar, no problem! Totally recommended.
Baghira 660 for the road, CCM 404 for green laning. Singles rock!
