Stock would be fine. I thought mine had a stock exhaust but it has a fairly loud sebring exhaust. Will trade this or buy a stock one if you already have a replacement! :)

I didn't think that was the right one. I didn't know they had a heatshield on them. I really want a quiet exhaust and $200 is probably a good price for a new one, but I was hoping for something less expensive.

Made an offer. If he won't take it then I'll build a custom exhaust.

The muffler I was referring to is a used one from someone in Mass. item # 220885010370 with a buy it now price of 100.00. When I bought my bike the PO had installed a M-4 straight thru can that was loud as hell. I put the stock exhaust back on but was not pleased with the perfomance, looks and the stocker weighs a ton. I ordered a db-killer insert from http://www.spengineering.co.uk and it quieted it way down. Took me about 5mins to install with a cost of about 35 bucks shipped. very pleased with it

Not sure why I didn't see that auction, however because of the weight and ugly of the stock muffler, I'm going to go another route.

Tomorrow I'm going to hit a local bike repair shop and see if they have a baffle or anything that will quieten this guy down. If not, I'm going to have my exhaust guy put one of these suckers on:

It's a 2" ID, 6" OD, 14" long turbo muffler. It should be super quiet compared to this race pipe, and when it's painted black and a turndown tip installed, it should be low profile enough not to look too nasty.

Plus at $60 it is just about as cheap as any other solution. Best I can tell, the stock pipe works with a 45mm muffler. I'll have to put a tool on it tomorrow to be sure of the OD of that pipe, but that's the best I can eyeball right now. So this would require a 2"OD/1.75" ID adaptor if they can't stretch it down.

It appears the pipe would fit, but I would probably need a replacement for the stock mounting tie, which isn't too tough. At worst I could have a hanger welded to the muffler.

The stock muffler inlet OD is 48mm. OD of connector pipe is 50mm, slips over the muffler inlet. (So far I remember. I just checked my notes, specs, and somehow all i wrote there was the connector pipe OD. But i remember looking at mufflers with 48mm inlet.)
It does translate to 2" if you're looking at american exhausts.....which means...2" is about 51mm.....anyway, easy for the exhaust shop to sort that out.
I'll check later, i'll measure, the stock exhaust is in my spare room, but i've got to go out now.

Thanks. My calipers are on my work truck, which is not here because I'm taking a mini vacation! :D

I just used a piece of paper to measure the circumference of the pipe and did some math to come up with the 45mm guess.

Either way, at 45 or 50mm, it's not a big chore for my exhaust guy to help it fit. After he welds it on and installs a downspout, I can take it off to paint it black. I've got lots of black paint around here. I'm thinking about getting some sort of stencil and putting a design on it as well.

EDIT: bought it here http://www.streetsideauto.com/ for $55 shipped! Can't wait. Hope it will shut it up a little.

I personally like the sound of this pipe, but I really need it to shut up for my friends' benefit. hah
