Chain Support Rollers

Postby breakwellmz » Thu Jan 05, 2012 7:19 am

Hi.
Whilst checking over/cleaning the Mastiff yesterday,i noticed both of the nylon chain support rollers, more so the lower, were very stiff to rotate.
Stripped both of them off,to find the roller bearings themselves were seized, but the rollers themselves hardly worn.
The bearings ,608-2RS,are commonly used in skateboard wheels, and are therefore cheap and readily available-SORTED!

Hi.
I pushed the bearings out from the inside using a small screwdriver, and pushed the new ones in only needing finger and thumb pressure.
Be careful not to lose the spacer sandwiched between the two bearings.
I paid £4 for the for the four bearings, compared to £20 for each(!)for the roller assembly.

skateboard wheels are tuff the bearings have to be to take the pounding

i use them to make a sliding door for sheds and building
and they work well
