Thanks Bill, the font of all wisdom as usual.
I did think that i would need the shorter dog bones but thought that i would get this confirmed before fabricating some new ones.

While I have your attention Bill, can you please tell me which replacement part you use for the rubbish balancer gear, am I right in thinking it comes off a number of machines-newer xtz660 and raptor

Thanks for your help.......Hutchy

Hi hutchy.

Shorter ones are correct, you can buy these from GRAHAMS, they are genuine MZ parts.

Three lengths Standard 142mm? & 135mm-127mm

EDIT
Sorry the above is for the Skorpion Only.

Remember it will effect the sidestand, the bike will lean over a lot more, well at least my Skorpion does, but it sharpens the cornering somewhat.
All the best

the XT gear is a 1:1 replacement.
T
I prefer the Raptor gear which is thicker and does not require the heavy mild steel washer between the gear and the bearing.
I consider that washer to a part of the problem itself.
Beware, that the index on this gear does not match up in the XTZ engine.
That is not important, tho, as the keyways of both shafts face each other when the alignment is correct.
