Boggin?

Postby sdbct1 » Tue Apr 03, 2012 10:16 am

Hey guys,
Took the baggy today here in NH. But if I went to go more than half throttle it would bog almost to stall, Any gear, But i could top end at half throttle, Carb adjustment? Something possibly more sinister?

How long has it been since running it last? Use some Seafoam in the tank to clean the carbs.....sounds like fuel starvation to me

check any fuel filters and drain the float bowls

all 3 of my mz bikes have plastic tanks
they seem to make lots of water to fill the float bowls

I'm the dirtbag that sold it to him. :-)

Matt - I never had any kind of problem like that, and I'm guessing you've hardly ridden it at all since buying it. Is the choke lever working OK, possibly stuck on? The carb works pretty well on that particular bike, maybe a little rich. I suppose it's possible something happened to plug up a jet in the two weeks since you bought it, but I highly doubt that.

Keep me posted. If it's still giving you trouble by the weekend. I should be around Sunday and I'd be happy to take a closer look with you.

I've had success using Seafoam for that exact application. Good luck!

Sam does know his...has good sense and keeps his stuff in good nick..no need to drop the bowl, but I would drain it with the drain screw,or run it with the petcock
off till it stops, then add Seafoam,or pop the fuel line off and injct the seafoam directly into the carb inlet to fill the bowl..it maybe the screen filter in the carb inlet
is blocked partially....gives same symptoms

The sea foam worked great, It's like a new machine, Still tends to stall at lights though. Possible jet clog?
