Scorpion air screw spring

Postby Srinath » Tue Jul 24, 2012 8:57 pm

Can the air screw properly seat with that spring in the thing. My bike refused to start ... till I yanked out that screw, lost the spring, and put the screw back in and set it to 3 turns. I will measure the depth etc, then fit it with a spring and set to that same depth. The bike as of now is pending a machined part for the starter clutch as well as new case gasket etc.

Anyway can any one suggest a source for that spring - I plan on going to a industrial hardware place and checking on springs they have, this one from mine is awol.

Cool.

FWIW, if you lose a spring like that you can effect a temporary fix using a dab of blu-tack on the screw threads to stop it backing out (or in). It cleans off easily once it's no longer needed.

I did this to help a neighbour out a couple of years ago (uses his bike for work) and, when he came to me with another problem about 14 months later, the blu-tack was still there and the screw still in place.
