clutch cable routing...

Postby handsomejackuk » Tue Aug 28, 2012 7:44 pm

does anyone have a close up of the correct routing of the clutch cable... where does it go by the exhaust headers ??

mine seems to run close to the header pipe and is quite burnt.. is there a better route for the cable...

Yes it is close...

Here's another view as it goes behind the oil line and up through the retaining loop.

Continues up through a plastic retaining loop on the frame. It is then tied to the radiator over flow tube with a zip tie at the bottom of the left radiator and on up between the radiator mount and frame.

Note that the pictures are of a "from the factory condition", lower height Baghira.

"The forks are through the yokes"... sharp eye.
I understand that dropping the tripple tree (yokes) about an inch or so helps improve the weight bias.

The taller Baghira's...
I would identify the forks literally are longer, with the intent to be a duel sport or supermoto and the rim size being the deciding factor. The lower height Baghiras (like mine) are the same as the supermotos, not a duel sport and intended as a supermoto (pre-supermoto?)

As you might have read in other posts I'm working on electrical issues at the moment and learning some... so the plastic is off and at the same time I figure that I might as well clean things up some. I've done some modifications to an extra subframe as I checked the electrical back there.

Before I get into the front electrical... turn signal mounts...

Again, your bike stock or not, any help with reference pictures just ask...

PS: No worries, I have extra's so I can make it show room stock - it's too low miles and clean not to have that option...

new clutch cable fitted..

Did notice a small tit on the frame where i think that cable guide should be mine is missing fallen off. at some stage.

Also my cable exits through the other radiator side... now the clutch is still real stiff... have checked lever operation is smooth... cable action is good i think i may have a problem with the clutch side.. did withdraw the clutch selector shaft by mistake today.. took out the 10mm bolt beneath the acutator arm. and mistakingly pulled on the shaft... cleaned it all up and put it back in.. expecting to have lost something in the innards. to my surprise it still works but the lever action on the clutch side is real stiff.... Phoned my mate said it could be a worn thrust bearing.....

i really have to sort this.....or it will have to go......... the clutch is real heavy.. any advice on the inner workings of the clutch how can i make it easier..

would an oil change and new clutch plated help ?????

i really dont want to pay £250 for hydraulic setup..

the shaft hooked to the out side lever will have a flat spot on it
in most cases this works on a slight off set to what it pushes against in the clutch
giving a very high gain in push pressure to release the clutch very short push lots of pressure (lots of ware? )

if its worn it may cause a need for high lever pressure
it should be almost flat at start of stroke at right angle to what its pushing

the lever out side the case and some things in side may all play together to make it work

and a badly worn clutch plates can be part of the problem

while your in there check that lock nut on the balance gear

mine is coming apart for balance gear change in mid to late November
so i will be seeing how its really made at that time
good luck
i tested the pull on mine and it seems a bit hard about 2x the rt125

link to a way to make it lighter if its all ok inside

hi al,as your draining the oil you may as well take clutch casing off and check nothing has come adrift from clutch lever arm,i take it all was good with clutch operation/smoothness before?
have looked in my parts manual but that only lists chassis parts :(

I think it has been gradually getting stiffer. I did remove the cable 2 years ago before i went isle lf man tt... to lube the cable.. cant say i have done too many miles since then...probably 2000....it is definitely overdue a good sevice though on the clutch... it needs sorting...

That clitxh arm that was being talked about is that very expensive?
