WOW WOT A DIFFERENCE !!!!

Postby handsomejackuk » Fri Sep 21, 2012 1:23 pm

as topic says... wow wot a difference... i changed my plug last nite as it looked a bit grubby. also give my airfilter a good clean... then took off th tank... removed the carbs, and give them a thorough clean.... seperated the both carbs too, and cleaned every orifice, and all the bodies...they were in despearate need of it too... it took me all of 6 hours to remove them clean them and reinstall them... took it for a spin felt the same as before but slightly more responsive... throttle... there was a bit of sandy grit in the float bowl, but nothing too much to worry about....

i also turned that knob on the top so as the secondary carb opens a bit sooner did about 2 turns on it... wow wot a difference.. this makes it just seems so much peppier, and so much more responsive on the throttle...

i think i may need to do the other mods to the carb now with the jets... any advice on this would be well received

Is this 6mm spacer under the primary and set the secondary to open by this still the proper way to adjust the carbs? ??

I replaced the pilot jet with the one size larger one that is the only one available. I then reamed it out with a welding tip cleaner. That helped low end response. I ended up putting a 42 Mikuni on it, which you can read the posts to see the hassle that caused, but again- it made a difference. Went from not being able to get the front wheel off the ground in first, to being able to pull it up in 2nd if hit just right. The 11/1 piston and stage 1 cam didn't hurt either.

42 mikuni's, I thought the right size was a 40, and you should hack off the tip of the mikuni's, ~2mm should do plenty. The original length will hit the carb body too much ... or it did on my skorpion.

Cool.
