triple black air horns on baghira

Postby handsomejackuk » Mon Sep 24, 2012 3:43 pm

as topic says found some air horns in my shed.. i had bought for my scooter.. they are black tripple ones with the compressor... just been looking at locations on where to put the compressor, and the the horns... initially was going to put them on the front by the rads.. but think i will take the stealthy hidden approach..

think i can hide the compressor behind the side panel exhaust side.. and maybe hide the horns behind the other panel... trouble is there are 3 of them.. other option is under the back fender just a bit concerned they may get a bit filthy under there...

post some pics up soon when i get them sorted... looking good though..

have you faced the horns the right way for increased power,,all that pressure blowing out the back would add a little bhp

bought myself a relay, a two way miniature selector switch, and some other bits and pieces to finish off istallation.. heat shrink...

just wired the relay in, and oiled up my compressor give the compressor a good couple of spins to make sure the oil is circulated... replaced some thin wire i had going to the compressor with some hefty multi strand, with the relay and compressor oiled up its loads more repsonsive and definitely louder...

just need to modify my temporary horn switch and sort the selector switch out should be well tidy then...

pics soon.. when the install is complete..

new horn selector switch made today from aluminium plate... this is a revision 2 bracket.... the new bracket Rev.3 will have the dash lights integrated in to it... hoping i can get away with 2 l.e.d.s...

i am going to use bi-colour leds... with one led for the both indicator lights, off a pilot feed off my indicator relay, and the warning light on the same l.e.d.

the other l.e.d. will be for main beam, and neutral light .. i figure that as main beam is not used that often i can integrate that with the neutral light... as the secondary colour of the bi color l.e.d. we see how it pans out...

I have also been in the process of designing my shift light.. and got the parts ready for the qucikshifter... its all looking good so far...

pics in 10 mins....

2 of the tripple horns not permanent position yet, as i will be removing the rear subframe for powder coating, and manufacturing a acylic undertray... where the horns will mount better.. will also protect the rear subframe too from sale mud and water..

Image

rev.2of the selector switch.... this will be modified to take some l.e.d.s for dash lights..

Image

the large silver bracket was my first attempt at horn switch... too big and unnecessary as have a selctor now and a relay.. for thr air horns...

i done my selector switch today, it works great. was a nitemare trying to solder on to a miniature toggle switch and i ruined two switches in the process... for some reason these new switches plastic melts very quickly rendering the switch useless... i also.. made a special tri colour led... with in-built dropper resistors.... and attached this to a stalk next to the indicator switch.... this has been wired to the pilot circuit. on my thermal indicator relay, and lights green when indicators are flashing..... and also have it wired in to the brake light circuit.... to show when my brake lights are on...!!! i have found this useful in the past... as you can flick the front brake lever to make the rear brake light flash to make yourself more visible.....

brake light modulator circuit is net with some additional brake lights....

and i thinking of a flasher indicator buzzer. as i still left my indicators on today for about 2 miles...

more pics soon....
