Banging starter clutch - fixed with some help.

Postby Srinath » Mon Oct 22, 2012 2:05 pm

OK I have long complained about the starter clutch that made a hammering noise @ startup.
Here is the fix for that - and the part was made by L and L extreme - Monty Lightner - http://llextreme.com/
Call him and mention my name.

Anyway the pics are below.

The original part is one flimsy POS. The part I got from Monty would have eaten it for lunch 1000 times over.

The clanging @ startup is all gone.

Cool.

Oh yea, the part was $105 and 5 shipping, 100000% worth it for a machined and hardened steel part with a rebuildable roller spring set.
Also if you send your unit to him he will get it checked and surfaced if neccesary so the new clutch bites on it good.
Cool.

Srinath, your picture link didn't work. I had a Raptor for a few years, which is why I wanted this bike when I found it, for the motor. I never had trouble with my starter clutch, but on the Raptor forum there were plenty that did and used the L&L to fix the problem. My Baggie makes some unusal noises when starting at times, which doesn't give the warm fuzzy feeling. How hard was it to put on?
