Changing the handlebars on a Skorpion tour

Postby Old Dog » Mon Nov 05, 2012 2:05 pm

OK, I am thinking about a serious winter slog next year and the OE bars aren't coming because if there is a spill I cannot straighten them and they pop out of alignment every time you look at them. So..has anyone here replaced the OE clip ons with handlebars and can you let me have the details please.

Many thanks
All the best

I've not done this myself ( I always look for a machine with tubular bars, just old fashioned I guess), but check this link http://www.busters-accessories.co.uk/productinfo/MAP523305/Bars-And-Footrests/Universal-Handlebar-Risers/On-Two-Wheels, as I think this will be the easiest route.
the cables may fit with a bit of re-routing, or you may have to fit baghira ones. A good time to change to braided steel brake hose too.

Article on fitting the risers sold by Busters to a Skorpion here: http://mike-thistledown.blogspot.co.uk/2011/06/over-bar.html and a picture of the bike with them fitted: http://mike-thistledown.blogspot.co.uk/2011/06/finishing-touches.html

this is mine after a day changing things
not a big fan of mods but for me the low bars did not work very well

looks a bit different now i did a change so the gps mount hides the piece of gas pipe holding
the bars in line
bars are from 95 Saxon Tour they had to be cut so the T mounts would fit
would love to have a top tripple clamp with regular bar mounting holes
as this set up is better but still way to wide
