When I tried it yesterday it seemed to crunch into the carb body.

If works for you then call it a success. Did the reworked jet fix the problem that initially made you want to swap out the old jet?

On mine there are issues ... many ...
OK the pilot jet was punched to nearly .46 mm, I think I did that last year somehow mistakenly thinking the 48 is a .48mm. Anyway the bike ran after that though, till spring of this year when it died abruptly ... I worked on it though summer, got it started a few times but it always was hard to start ...
However ~a month ago I started it and ran it till again it died and hasn't been back togther yet ... the corrections of pilot jet and the air screw etc etc etc are all gonna be done as is some more work like deracking and cleaning etc. The carbs look very clean though, however I am not taking that for granted.

So I guess i am yet to know for sure ...
