1969 ETS250

Hello everyone. My name is Tyler. I found this bike out behind my friends barn in his scrap metal pile. I found a tag on it. It says its a ETS250/G. I am trying to find out if I should leave it in one piece or part it out. The front brake is seized up, seat is missing as is most of the electrical system. It does have the correct fuel cap and all the tin is in pretty good shape. The kick starter does not engage so I have not idea if the engine is stuck. It is pretty rough. Let me know your thoughts.

Keep it in one piece and restore it. These bikes are rare ..... as in R A R E !!!!!
Looks like the motor might have been replaced, the generator cover is stock rather than the flatter one seen on most /Gs. Has it got a twin plug head? Does the front brake plate have an external brake lever?
You are a lucky man, I would love to have found this........ ah well such is life!

Looking closer answered at least one question myself the front brake plate has the internal lever. Possibly original, possibly replaced.

The head has 2 spark plugs. I figured it was a 2 cylinder.

I would love to restore it but I don't have the finances to fix it up right now.
Do you have any idea what it would be worth as is?

Thats a shame, if were on this side of the pond you would find me on your doorstep! i would take a lot of pictures and stick it on eBay with a starting price of $1000, it's got to be worth that even in the state its in. Restored it would be worth $4000 to $5000 everyday
The bike is a replica of the MZ works ISDT bikes which were unbeatable for much of the 60s and early 70s. I would pop round your mates again see if there are any other bits lying in his scrap pile ( seat and exhaust being the most obvious, and even if badly damaged they would be useful for patterns) . Well this is actually a 1970 bike but it's just about identical. And the front brake plate is like yours so thats original. The twin plug head was so that if one fouled, you could switch to the second one without losing any time, the switch is under the tank at the back.

I THINK THIS RATES AS THE BARN FIND OF THE YEAR
you need to return to that pile and see if you missed any pieces
now that you have some pictures of a whole bike so you know what to look for

parts can be found
if it was a jap bike this old it would be hard to find any thing you needed

Too right Dave, it would be criminal to break this bikes for spares. Why don't I ever come across ones like that? Don't sell it Tyler, save your pennies and restore it. I can help with sourcing spares from Europe for you, and there are some bits floating round the States..... at a price!

Well the bike is gone. I traded it for a snow mobile. The guy who has it is planning a full restoration. I referred him here for advise, parts and a good group to answer his questions. Thanks for all the help. In glad this one got saved from the scrap pile.
