15/43 seems to be the ratio that most of the more knowledgeable people on this site recommend. I've settled on that as well. As a 300 lb rider, I can comfortably say that you are doing something wrong if this ratio isn't cutting it for you. I can keep up with, and sometimes pull away from, guys riding KTM690's and XR650 conversions. We aren't trying to kill ourselves but ride at a pretty aggressive pace through the hill country here in central Texas. The KTM's pull me on the straights pretty good but they are putting down about 50% more hp from the factory and don't weigh as much. I can hang with them in the twisties. Do yourself a favor and find a dyno, preferably one that does exhaust gas analysis, and plop down a hundred bucks to find out if your ride is anywhere near a healthy tune. The peace of mind is worth it alone and I bet it will save you money in the long run.
