How to find 17 inch rim to fit my Baghira enduro?

Postby boschsuper » Thu Jan 24, 2013 9:23 pm

Hello I hope someone can help. I have 04 Baghira 660 with 19/21 rims and I was planning to get the super motto 17 rims so the bike can sit lower due to I am short 5'6"rider. Would a yamaha or other after market rims compatible/cross reference with hub/axle interchangeable.Where can I find or who sells it? I have lowered using dog bone links and it help a little but I need to be comfortable from stop light or a hill stop. Thanks

17" mz wheels on ebay once in a blue moon, look into a cheap wheel from an xt600/660,think it's the same hub but bearings maybe different, worth a try if cheap enough but cost of rims and re spoke will soon change that
wait till someone wants to trade 17's for 18/21.
is your bike full height :?: reduced height have shorter non adjustable forks and a shorter shock.

oh and welcome :smt006 lots of info on here

Yes it was full height until I change the 2 shorter links. My friends made fun of me and made 5 inch wood adapters strap to my shoes when I first had the bike. Thanks for the response.

Another option (and a very viable one) is to re-lace your existing hubs with good aftermarket rims (Excel, Behr, etc.).

Good luck!

on a re lace make sure your brake caliper will clear the new rim
a 17 may work but a 16 may not or even with the 17 may need smaller rotor
and a different caliper mount

i do not like mods they usually are a pain at the back end of a north bound mule

Dave,

I hear ya', but relacing enduro rims into sumo rims is not uncommon--17" is a pretty straighforward wheel size and the enduro rotors will not be bigger than sumo rotors (usually, its very much the other way around), so he should have no issues with respect to rotor size. I believe our 17" baggy sumo rims are made by Behr (as are the KTM Duke spoked wheels)...

I was looking at a Dennis kirk catalog in the rims section. I noticed that I can probably get a front 17" Moose Rim 17X 1.40 . I would think that would make a difference by changing from 21 to 17 to lower the height and leave the rears alone since it is 18"stock and it only makes a 1" difference to 17". Good Idea?

Good idea. I've seen that done plenty of times too. It steepens the rake a bit, but our Baggy's are fairly raked out anyway.

Here's one done (on a different bike, of course):

shorter or longer dog bones on the rear can drop it some
but watch the wheel clearance on the frame in the rear
