KTM 640 Duke II Rear Shock Fits Baghira...

Postby Rhino-1 » Sun Jan 27, 2013 9:08 pm

Well, with a couple of minor mods, anyway. The gentleman I bought my Baggy from replaced its WP shock with an older unit off of his Mastiff.

I had to grind the lower ears round a bit (the KaTooM lower ears are squared-off), but she slid right in. For the record, the shock fits through the bottom of the swingarm, once the linkage connecting it to the frame is unbolted. All bolts, save for the top 8mm allen, were 17mm--I used a 17mm wrench ("spanner"), and a 17mm socket to get it done.

Sure.

This is the picture from the auction ("WP Shock off of a 2001 KTM Duke II):

Here is a bad iphone picture of the "rounded" ears and how they interface with the linkage:

And here is a picture of the shock sitting where it now lives:

It seems that this shock might be a bit shorter (should have measured... LOL!). I'm going to set the preload properly, then give it a good measure. If it is indeed shorter, it might be a brilliant soultion for someone wanting to lower their Baghira. And I might be interested in trading for their standard length shock :-D
