Need electrical help for baggy

Postby Baggy_Al » Wed Jul 10, 2013 1:15 pm

My baggy would not start the other morning so I jump started it as I thought I had left it in the park position after fitting a new indicator bulb but after a run it was still flat so I got and fitted a new battery as I didn't know how old it was. After getting home tonight battery was flat again so I put a meter across it and was only getting 11.4 volts while the engine was running. And 10.2 when I put the lights on, I know it should around the 13 volt mark so any help would be most appreciated as I am a bit limited in my electrical abilities. :(

check all the fuses

and inspect the plug on the voltage regulator where it plugs into bike
to make sure its in good order
this plug gets a good workout when bike is running

the plug on my rt125 V/R turned to white dust at about 8 years and the wires to green slime

:smt006 Hi Al, I recon you should also check the connector block from the alternator, if it's burnt or corroded I'd say chop it out then solder and heat shrink the wires straight into the loom, Good luck. Give me a shout if you need any spares, I've got a few bits and bobs kicking about. Chalks.

great, thats very interesting looks like the part of the loom on the front that goes to the ignition switch, looks like i can get the rear and front light to work by tapping off the dash light circuit, I may even put a diode in there too, so its back to original.

Be interesting to find out if that is where the diodes are though...

anyone else care too share some ... views on this..???

Al,

I believe that the yellow tape on the loom is the location of the other two diodes.
The schematic shows a total of three. With the other one located as you stated by the head set.

This package contains replacements, purchased in the past but have yet to be used. The values are for reference...

Hope this helps,

Robert,

this part of the loom you have photgraphed, is this the original loom, or part that you have modified ?

as my connector only has 3 wires yours shows 5 wires all be it the additional 2 are the diode...

Al,

After searching the forum I found that those two pictures are from a thread (RE: BAGHIRA 15 AMP FUSE) back in 7-27-2012, the post by billr.

I am to understand that they are from his Traveler which would explain what I also was wondering about...

The second two pictures, one of the engine area and the other of the package containing diodes are of my Baghira.
