Excuse for a new colour scheme....

Postby tigcraft » Sat Aug 03, 2013 4:07 pm

So what to do on a rainy day.....answer?

I've always like the look of the Skorpion Replica as many others probably do but in all fairness there isn't a lot of nice individually painted Skorpions I've seen. I'm not a lover of silver but the colour scheme I do like so I painted my spare bodywork in pearl white the other day and wonder what others think? Eric

I don't usually comment on the esthetics of motorcycles that I don't own...
I might think, the small MZ emblem on the tank with gold border, would be a finishing touch that the factory should have had in its product line.

Very, very impressive!

Don't worry the tank furniture inc muz badge goes on last when I put the bike together. Eric

maybe because it was so hard to fix when it did break

my stepson had one without the turbo it ran great but was a beast to work on

part of the problem was it did not belong to me... but when he worked on it
it just got worse :-D so i got to fix it

Hi basser23, colours are straight white polyester base with straight pearl from any mixing system, can be dupont, ici sikkens PPG. I just buy stuff like that as virgin basics so I can tint as needed but in this case these are untampered. The grey I made up but Ford Nimbus grey would be close as it has a blue in it to give it a fresh steel colour. The gold was a left over from some discs I painted.
I did base the scheme on the replica where the two silvers complement and are close and discrete but with the new white and steel grey there is a greater contrast. There is very little colour used so if anyone want to copy the grey was only about 50grams (egg cup full) where the white solid was 500grams (1/2 litre), pearl was 250grams and gold 10grams (thimble full) finished off with 600grams ready mixed 2k high solids laquer
