Sidestand : Sport

Postby RonBelfast » Tue Sep 17, 2013 1:28 pm

My Sport project has no sidestand but now I have one I have no idea how to mount it! Can see no location hole for the bolt nor anywhere it could go.
If anyone has a pic of their's this would be a great help.
Thanks
Ron

I've not a picture to hand from my sport this minute but your short of a thick lug that's been removed from that picture and will need welding back on. Eric

Thanks Eric, I think the thick lug who owned the bike previously has a lot to answer for! Anyone want to buy a sidestand for a Skorpion?!
As you can see from my pic the chain has a kink in it too, the connecting link has been beaten so hard it doesnt flex. Plus I found a 17 tooth primary sprocket and 39 tooth rear, with no cover on the swing arm which is well chewed.
Have a right job on my hands here to get this bike back to normality! :smt005 :smt005

At least the exposed metal where the lug was cut off was painted for rust protection! I like the shock (Penske or Hangon)? As you know those dog bones are not OEM.

Ach Doug it was so well cut off I couldnt see it lol! I really do have a BITSA on my hands here, MZ did many strange things with this bike but my PO did even stranger. Have a lot of work ahead of me, amazingly the motor runs real sweet but God knows what kind of oil he has in there. And now it seems he has even changed the dog bones for the shock! I really wonder what goes thru people's heads at times, sure aint neural synapses in this case.
So I guess the sidestand can go back on E-Bay, cant go on this bike that's for sure!

Thanks Doug, and I thought Yamaha SR500's were complex, this is a whole new bag of weed!

Happy to help if you need advice. I've had a Sport since 1995 and a few others (Replica and a Tour) have found the way into the garage. I might even have a cut-off sidstand lug in the garage!
