Valve timing, chain guide and cylinder cover gasket ?

Does the skorpion cam sproket have 3 dots like the raptor manual says ? Or just 2.

Does the front guide drop int the top in the slot in the head, and sorta just hang onto the front length of the chain ???

Then a head cover gasket - I cant seem to remember one ... I thought I'd ask here.

Yes. The front guide drops in but make sure it''s inserted all the way and the bottom is seated in it's perch/socket(whatever you call the little area designed to receive the bottom of the guide).

No head cover gasket. Use Permatex Ultra Black and make sure you let it cure up before rotating the engine. You don't want to plug up any oil pathways.

3 dots - we saw 2 only, but we weren't looking for the third, but I dont think it mattered, we put it @ TDC and sat the valves all closed all the way. But I will check it in a day or 2, when I have to slap silicone on it.

And thanks on the front guide and I'll do that too when putting silicone on the cover and rinsing the bottom end again with gas.

According to memory, there are three dots and they need to be lined up properly in order for your engine not to eat itself. If the cam sprocket were the face of a clock and the gasket surface were level, the dots should be at 9, noon and 3 when the crank is at TDC and the timing chain is slipped on. Also make sure the cam is bolted to the sprocket correctly. I think it will bolt up either way, but only one is correct. Do you have a service manual for the Raptor 660? It will help on the top end work.

I didn't unbolt the sprocket form the shaft.
We set it to tdc and put the valves closed, the 9 and 3 marks were there, we never looked for the 12 o clock mark.
The motor was spun over and it made puff puff compression out the exhaust, no issues, I will open it and make the guide seat in the lower groove, and the silicone seal for the cover and look at the timing marks ... you see the brace is out on the frame, it will be unboltable, I can yank my head cover in about 3 mins ... the motor stays in the frame ... heck, I may do it to the other bike too ...

As far as I know, the Skorpion motor is virtually identical to the Tenere.

A quick search of the term "3yf" under Bill J's posts confirms this.
