The danger of wet grass. - darn it all

I just dropped my MZ 1000s stopping on wet grass today. I cracked the left side fairing, upper fairing on the left side and broke a clutch lever on an otherwise like new and one of the few examples in the USA. I know the dangers of wet grass but this bike is just two tall for me! I went to park it in the barn and slipped when I stopped to open the door. This is actually the second time I did this with this bike. I replaced a lower panel last time.

I got a call into Grahams. I expect the fairing pieces will be expensive, especially the top one which looks like one piece surrounding the head light. I expect I will just throw money at it and fix it with new original parts. Then I'll probably never ride it again! Is Grahams my only option? Well at least the exchange rate is better somewhat better.

If anyone wants to make me a lowball offer before I spend way too much on it, I'm open to offers which will make it go away. One could turn it into a naked street fighter or repair the fairings. It has less than 3000 miles and was on ebay recently with no takers at $4500. That was before It fell over on wet grass.

i spun the back tire on my rt 125 going up a hill

by the time i was at the bottom i had broke a clutch lever and blew out a starter sprag clutch

how i got the motor to run backwards and blow the sprag i will never know

the only thing that was hurt was the back pocket to the tune of about almost $300 usd

Yeah, I've heard that 3 Bond stuff works well to. I'm just so angry at myself, so I'm likely to blame the bike. I call it the devil bike. Up till now it was a near perfect bike. I have now it parked in the corner of my garage under a sheet so I don't have to look at what I'd done.

I've got several bikes so I don't have to ride the MZ. It really is too tall for my small aging frame anyway. I also have an R1200c with the optional low seat, a coupla older ducks and a few early Electra glides. I especially like the BMW with its low center of gravity.

i have several older bmw bikes 1953 1963 1971 need to get busy and get one on the road

i find my mz 660 traveller is way to tall and i am not a short fellow
it likes to fall over in the driveway and destroy the faring parts and clutch and brake levers

Has anyone ever got MZ parts from any place *other* than Grahams in the UK? I got a line on parts coming from Germany, but I thought Grahams was an exclusive spares supplier for MZ. Is that the case or no? Anyone know?

Grahams is the sole importer into the UK, there are a couple of German dealers but they don't sprakenzee English, have a look online. Good luck with the bike, they are getting rare, there are less than 20 of all models in the UK and I believe there are only around 50-60 in America.

I know better now, where are you in Germany?
I changed myfork oil today and unfortunatly marked the top nut, even though I taped it up to prevent this. I am looking for new top nut (item 27 on the spares fiche), do you have one and if so how much is it?

And it is not cheap....
