Hi Alex, Seeing that you are going to run on the existing rear tyre I felt I must mention the following. I worked for Ford Motor Co for 30yrs as a design engineer and our tyre man said that forget the tread depth it's the age, and the recommended age max was 7 years so I will add this info.
The date your tyres were made will be on the sidewall in the form of four numbers usually preceded by the letters DOT. These numbers represent the week number and year, so 3410 will be week 34, 2010. Use that information to make sure you're buying tyres with the longest shelf life possible. Of course it's entirely up to you. The famous one for tyre problems is a caravan (camper van) they always have loads of tread and on an older van people think, that's got lots of tread and then bang.
