MZ TS250 Restoration Services

Hi folks. New member. Apologies for the newbie'ish post...

Can anyone help me find a shop who could bring a nicely stored MZ TS250 back to life. Bike is super clean. Came from Earl Bud Cox's collection via Mecum just this past June.

I am located in the San Francisco area, but could ship the bike to a reasonable distance if it were the right shop. US only. Maine is probably too far. Mid-West considered if the credentials of the shop stand up.

You really would be better off doing and learning yourself.
If you get a knuckle dragged to work on it he will not understand
the German way, and cause unimaginable damage.

I agree with Michael.

Most of the "Modern" shops do not care about or understand these bikes.

They really are simple enough to learn yourself on providing you have a degree of mechanical knowledge - and as Michael says there is the online manual that you can download.

These are fun bikes when setup and running well.

Thanks fellas. It is a matter of time for me. 3 kids ranging from 7 to 11, 2 dogs, not to mention the wife.
I'd love to have the opportunity to get this nice looking bike back on the road, but I doubt that will happen for quite a while.

Wondering what type of shop would have the closest skills? Other German bikes? A scooter shop perhaps? Japanese bikes? etc...

where i live most riders even the older ones do not know of the brand

so its just safer to make it a do it yourself project

Not yet. BIke just sitting. I actually think I may not be able to register the bike in CA.

Going through hell with my Aprilia RS50 which may or may not make it. If it does that is because it is a 50cc which gets an exception.

I read one post somewhere where it says 2 strokes had to be grandfathered in by 2013.

Perhaps I can convince the people it is a 4 stroke.

Not sure.

In the time since I posted this I have gotten 2 other bikes on the road, so I am probably going to give this a shot.

Got the bike registered in CA. Wasn't anymore difficult than any other out of state bike. There is some misinformation and then some information that is difficult to decipher with the CA DMV around out of state bikes and of 2 Stroke especially.

Going to post on the current running state now. Just wanted to close this out for other CA folks who might have hit the DMV wall.
