The side stand o my250 points straight when it is down and is a bit unstable.
I saw a TS250 and the stand pointed further forward.
Did the change it for the ETZ?
It is fitted correctly I assume I will have to grind part of the bracket away.

Sometimes the section that essentially becomes a spacer doesn't fit very squarely, and can often end up twisting sightly anti-clockwise, esspecially if you have a stand with return spring on.

The stand is as clockwise as it can go it is on the end of the bracket

The stand might be, but is the braket?
You can also take a file to the 'trench' that runs under the swingarm to allow for extra adjustment.

I have cut away part of the 'stop' to allow the stand to point further forward and painted it too.
The bike is a lot more stable

as you own a bike you have to fine tune things to get it all correct
like.. my rt125 under the rear of the seat the wires for the turn lamps were routed wrong
the wires were so tight you could play a song on them like a guitar
mod to make it go faster are not my thing to do
but fixing things that cause it to fail are on my fix it list

The stand i have must be a cheap copy as it is now bending along the flat part by the bracket.
any quality ones available?

The aftermarket ones are crap.
You must find an original.
Some parts I have found you must have original. Whether that be throttle clamps, inlet manifolds, side stands. Some of the quality is God-damn awful!

Luckily I know someone who has a cnc engineering business and he will re weld and reinforce it.
Hopefully it will work.
The cheap stand was fitted to work almost vertically so no issue bending but when I positioned it
correctly it could not take the 'weight' of an ETZ

Can anyone tell me the correct length for a 1991 MZ ETZ251 side stand please, the one fitted to my bike is way too short.

There are 2 diffferent sidestands...
One for the 16 " rear wheel like ETZ 251 or TS 250
One for the 18" rear wheel like the ETZ 250.
As you have the ETZ 251, you should have the shorter one for 16" wheels. If yours is to short,someone had made it shorter .
Is your side stand positioned on the rear wheel or on the front footrest ?

My bikes side stand is at the rear wheel and is too short,
I will measure it to see if it is 16 inches then make it the desired length, a quick and easy job
