Ta for explaining. I now understand the bike did have paperwork, including a previous registration. That will make it a lot easier, as much of the info will already have been present in their database. There already was an entry for the bike in their database, it just needed updating.

(My experience was with registering a motocross bike, with 0 paperwork. Yet it did have a type approval, as the bike was also used for enduro, as I wanted too.)
