Adjusting plate contact breaker mz ts 250/1

Postby Rob NL » Mon Sep 09, 2019 9:25 am

For our '79 250 ts/1 we're looking for an adjusting plate contact breaker.

I can't find them new (they seems to be out of stock everywhere).
I would be great if someone can help me out with it :D

Hi Rob,

have you looked at all suppliers mentioned in viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9257&p=47896&sid=dd7bca9749d861dca2e4e65aa9895542#p47896?

If it really gives you hassle, maybe consider an electronic ignition.

Hi Puffs,

Didn't find that page. Thnx!
It had electronic ignition when we bought it. However there were some issues with it so we rebuild it back to original.

David had send me this link: https://www.guesi-motorradteile.de/inde ... ng=contact
Looks (too?) easy to install and isn't too expensive, so I'll keep that one in mind!

Rob, don't know why that link doesn't work for you, for me it does. Anyway, the linked post mentions:

mz-b.net, ost2rad.com, guesi-motorradteile.de, zweirad-schubert.de, themzshop.co.uk, ddr-motorrad.de, akf-shop.de, motorradmeistermilz.de, mtz-cichy.de, tkm-racing.com, 2takt24.de, sausewind-shop.com, oldtimerteile-haase.de, simson-keletimotor-alkatreszek.hu (may not send abroad), mzmotorwinkel.nl, pieces-motos-mz.net, mzpartsmiami.com, mz-faber.de.

And do not forget to look on eBay.de.

Ach, maybe it's that space at the end again, try viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9257&p=47896&sid=dd7bca9749d861dca2e4e65aa9895542#p47896 .

On electronic ignitions, my view is that MZ's conventional/original contact breaker ignition can work very well & be reliable. At least I still use the original ignition on my 251 (which is 12V). It does require some adjusting & cleaning from time to time, but you'd have to lube the chain anyway, and that's below the same cover. Yet Guesi has correctly pointed out that the lesser maintenance of EI is a big advantage in a sidecar combination. And the more accurate ignition timing (+ options for RPM-dependent adaptation) of EI are certainly an advantage in a racing environment, but I don't think that's why we ride these bikes. Other types of EI do not require a battery, and that I feel is a real advantage - but that comes at a price.

Hi Puffs, I meant I didn't find that topic myself before. But the link worked already the first time. Thanx.

I've ordered the plate at Günthers webshop.
I wan't our motor to be back on the road again before thinking of going electric. But it's good to keep in mind.
Honestly I don't really care if our MZ needs some more attention time by time, for reliable km's I ve got another bike.
