A used gear linkage assembly with no play on a Mastiff/Baggy is an oxymoron indeed! 
I`ve recently taken mine off and replaced it with a 105mm long lever from a Yamaha WR450, a very satisfying and simple process!

you seen my video fixing the freeplay on the gear linkage gear lever bush,,i replaced with bearings .youtube - clubsnapperuk -
