Saxon 500 faulty tachometer

Hi Steve...thanks for the details of how you fixed your tacho, this will help someone in the future....I wonder if we will ever get to know how the FlyingPolaK got on with his one?

It's been a while since I gave an update on this. Getting parts from China is a great test of patience

I replaced the two electrolytic capacitors, the small green ceramic capacitor and all diodes. Didn't help.
I ordered the LM1819N chip, it got here today, replaced it. Didn't help.

I may try to poke around it some more but I don't know what else to try. I may just leave it. One of my friends suggested making a new digital tacho from scratch as a little project so I may just do that too

i rode with no tac for years got a r75/5 its tac was so small it was hard to read

Tachometer is working!

On the circuit board there is a potentiometer, with a hole through the back of the casing to regulate it. While trying to open the tachometer I stuck a screwdriver in the potentiometer and inadvertently misadjusted it, causing it to not work properly

Thank you for all your advice on the topic! If I go ahead with making a new digital tacho I'll be sure to post about it

Congratulations and very well done....So it seems one or more of the new components did rectify the fault so the money and effort was well spent. You also saved money and your feedback has provided an incentive to others to repair their ones if needed. Much obliged.... Les
