Use some lubricant - rubber grease/KY jelly ? - whatever you have to hand. You may find it helps to remove the bottom clip and push upwards on the drive cable at the same time as pulling from the top. HTH
To remove the rubber from the clock mount, you must first remove the clock. Pull up on the clock bezel with one hand, and push up on the cable from below at the same time with the other hand. The clocks can be very tough to remove sometimes.
