BIG fuel tanks

I know we have gone on and on about alternative tanks for the Baggy, but did we come to the conclusion that the only versions that would work on the bike is the KTM LC4 bigger tanks?

I am being outbid on ebay everytime I try and get one - last one with only 10 seconds to go! However, I am starting to wonder if there is an alternative which isnt as popular!!

How about a Yamaha TT type? or even a DR600 type?

They all seem to have all their sticky out bits in the right places- Im wondering if anyone has experimented with other brands of tank?

It could make a nice project for xmas!

The Yam tt type definatoy wont fit, the Yam has an air cooled engine. Many Husaberg and KTM parts are interchangable so one off of one of these might fit.

XR650R stuff might be an option.

what about the yamaha Tenere tank? I know it is metal, but wasn't that bike liquid cooled?

The 660 Tenere was water cooled. All xt/xtz600 models were as far as I know air cooled. Could be wrong though.

Why does the air cooled, water cooled issue crop up?

Is it to do with available space for the tank?

because a tank for an aircooled bike wont have room on either side in the front for the dual radiators like most dualsports and dirtbikes use

Well, i found a 20 litre tank for a water cooled tenere on Ebay - should be getting delivery after xmas knowing my luck!

Aprilia Tuareg - any info available?

There is a tank and seat for this bike available on ebay at the mo - the owner thinks it will fit on a KTM - so I'm thinking it will fit on a Baggy!

The actual bike it is off is a 125EX Tuareg - its an 18 ltr tank - does anyone know if I might be wasting my time?

The Tenere Tank DOES NOT fit the MZ!!

I now have one for sale!!

Its a little too narrow for the radiator and it has two screw holes in the bottom area rather than one.

The Aprilia one wont fit either - just checked some new pictures of it!

I can tell you that a Kawasaki klr 650 tank also will NOT fit. The KTM tank that you see on Baghiras occasionally does not fit easily, it is far less than an idealic fit. I think we need to petition Ascebis to offer a tank for the Baghira....

I sent an email to Acerbis several months ago asking for this, they replied, but said thay wernt really interested. I also asked of they would supply the fork protectors for the MZ through their normal dealer network, but said they were only sold via MZ.

Did you post some pics of the work needed to make it fit?

Having looked at the tank, it would seem that it uses a butt into the frame as a way of holding it on the frame at one end and a screw on the other side. What sort of work is needed to make the job complete? I can't get any measurements or even some decent pictures of the KTm tank to do a comparison before buying one.

I had one dealer suggest I had Acerbis built me a tank as a one off - but that sounded a bit mad -

Would anyone else be up for that? so we could suggest a minimum run for them?

I bought one of the ktm tanks from Tunebike in Germany. It came with instructions on how to mount it and photos. I wasnt happy with how it fit so I sold it to Anders, who mounted it and was happy with it. You could ask him for a copy of the instructions or ask Bernd at Tunebike. You really do need them, to mount it...

If acrebis would make a tank I would buy one...

Aux Fuel Tank

Got one for my Skorp and they are NICE, in polypropylene! Look like a bedroll. Also a spun aluminium one 75% larger now available too. Thus one at 2 Gal and the aluminium at 3.5 Gal.
