you need to find another dealer man!! there is NO difference between a Black Panther and a Street Moto except color!! That guy is smoking CRACK!! don't pay more than $6,000. You could have 1 shipped from elsewhere and still save money. I can get you dealer cost if you like.....

For a enduro thats a steal !! but remember you have to add $ 1000.00 for Behr rims and $ 300.00 for tires, I think the enduro has the big front roter.
one problem with the street motos is they use the same speedo set up for the small tire as they do the 21" thats why I think my speedo reads fast ??
my 2 bits

[quote="Brian"]I'm only concerned about getting body parts.....as for buying a bike they can keep the Honda/Kawi/Ktm.... they look like dirt bikes... our bikes are very classy looking... I considered the above three.... the only one that peeked my interest was the KTM its almost identical in weight and performance.... quote]

HUH? The KTM is waay lighter with way more horsies stock. Not even close. Compare the specs on their website. The KLR weighs 50 lbs less but about 10 less horses. I do agree the BP is way better looking.

Be careful with that. You will have to pay tax when you get to DMV. Figure in shipping and that you'll have to set it up yourself and still won't have the 17s.

Parts

Postby sbaschn » Sat May 15, 2004 12:05 am

The headquarters of MZ is in Daytona Beach, Florida ( at least for my area). I will try to get you guys some numbers. I spoke with the guy who sold me mine and getting parts is not really an issue for me at least. There is always a dealer somewhere. I have 2 dealers in jacksonville, FL. Perhaps I am lucky???

Not to split hairs so give me a little leeway....... the 640LC4 (150 KG dry) weighs 366 lbs wet. and puts out 53 hp, not sure If thats rear wheel hp though.
the Baggy with pipe and carb jetting dynos at 52 rear tire... and weighs somewhere between 366 and 380 (after a ton of crap pulled off (biggest weight loss is the pipe and cat converter etc.) I will take it to my new found pals in Tacoma to weigh it as she sits....
From my experience there is nothing like the MZ's... If you want to mod the snot out of the engine and bike etc add a couple grand ($ 5500.00 plus 2 k) which now gets close to a stock KTM price wise and still be more reliable, not to mention alot faster........If I did it again I would choose the big baggy in a heart beat........I won't carry on because I'm repeating myself here, other posts on the same topic....... If I raced prolly go Italian  If I see a big Katoom on the street I will drag race him !! as far as corners he's done before he starts

One other thing on the Baghira verses other SM's, the service costs on KTM's are horredous, oil chande every 1500 miles. Not a lot of good when you use your bike every day for work and for fun at weekends.

Exactly why I sold my XR-loved it to bits, but it was unsuitable for what I wanted it to do sometimes (120 mile a day commute). I have a GSX 1100 i use to commute on, but can see the MZ taking over whjen the weather is OK.

No money to do the pipe until next month though-will have to stay with the breadbin for now.

I own a Black Panther, I have had it for 2 years, and the front brake switch failed, same as a KTM Duke, cost me $11.00.

The dealer network is weak at best, but don't let that deter you. My previous street bike was a 1994 XT600, bought it with 200 miles, rode it till the rod broke, like 25,000 later. I dont think I ever had a problem with that bike. My buddy had a KLR, motor lasted about the same. I am Hard on Bikes though, did prob 10,000 of those miles offroad in nevada and arizona.

almost all parts for the Baghira except frame and hard parts are available aftermarket, or substitutes are available with a little research.

pros: Weighs alittle less than KLR, Has WAY better suspension (full height has fully adjustable Paioli fork, fully adjustable WP shock), WAY better brakes (300mm front rotor) WAY more style!!!.....

cons: Dealer network, parts availability.

All the cool aftermarket stuff is available, 3 or 4 pipe manufacturs, aluminum pannyard bags ( did I spell that right) full rallye fairings and tanks, stiffer springs through local shops....

I don't want to make tha decision for you, But the only reason I would have bought a different Motard would be to race it. not many were available when I got mine, but for street, I would buy it again.

here's a pic of my Black panther, and Brians Silver Street moto..
