MZ 125 SM Clutch Cable

Postby Faizabk » Thu May 11, 2006 7:53 am

Guys,

need some advice. My clutch cable was snapped after less than 7 months riding. The mechanic had told me that original MZ 125sm cable was useless.
The mechanic had upgrade the clutch cable, same brand, but different model no. According to him, should has longer lifetime compare than the original one.

Question
1. is there any recommended after market clutch cable suitable to be used for this bike, and has significant longer lifetime?
2. Is there any technique to preserve the cable so that it not easily getting snap?

Lubricate the cable with grease (lightly but thoroughly; you don't want it attracting too much dirt). A big tub of bearing & chassis grease costs 5 bucks and will save big headaches in the future.

sounds like it was not adjusted proper to start with...
my rt125 uses same cable and has 12500 miles on it and works fine
it did streach a bit in the first year of use
there are 2 adjustments 1 at lever on handle bar
and 1 on the clutch basket under the right engine case

adjustment is a happy location between releasing the clutch
and not pulling the cable too far and breaking it

pm me an email address and i will send a info page on the adjustments
i am out of space to post pictures here :D

mz cable number is 3923006000

if you use bike in very cold weather do not grease or use silcon based
lube
